Attracted by Christ, Marianne Leung |
|
I grew up not knowing and not believing in God - basically, as an atheist. But who knew what God had in mind? My first contact with Christians was at the end of my junior year in high school. From that time on, I began to meet more and more Christians, hearing a lot of the gospel here and there. But the more I heard about it, the more I rejected it, for it was troublesome and unnecessary in my life. But the Lord just has a way to reach those whom He has chosen and predestinated. (Romans 8:29-30) In my junior year of college, two Christians approached me. Surprisingly, I was quite open, allowing them to speak to me. I even gave them my phone number. Not long after that, I received the Lord into me as my Savior and Life. (John 3:15-16) A month later, I was baptized and fully entered into the kingdom of God, having received His eternal life. (John 3:5) That was about four years ago. I never imagined that I would become a Christian; I did. Praise the Lord! By His mercy, He found me out somehow. Now as I recall my salvation, it was not merely those two Christians speaking to me who attracted me; rather, it was the Lord Jesus. Outwardly, those sisters in Christ were just plain and simple; somehow, they had something else that caused me to like them - their person. But it was not their natural person or being, rather it was the living Person, God Himself, expressed through them. (2Corinthians 2:14-15) Like the Lord Jesus when He was on earth, He had no outward attraction, (Isaiah 53:2) yet many people followed Him. What attracted these people? It was His fine humanity and proper human living that attracted people. (Matthew 4:18-25) These sisters had Christ in them, and when they were in their spirit, Christ was expressed from within. (Philippians 1:20). They somewhat lived out this Christ (Philippians 1:21), for they were constantly calling on His name (Romans 10:12-13), praying to Him, praising Him, and rejoicing in Him. I did not see their outward person, but the Christ in their spirit. It was actually the complete God and perfect Man, Jesus Christ who attracted me to follow after Him. I truly thank the Lord for such a salvation. In re-uttering this sweet experience, I am drawn even more to Him. Oh, I just love Him. |
